EDC Seeks Applications for Hall of Fame Awards
Sarasota, FL (June 1, 2010) -- The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County (EDC) announced a call for applications for the 2010 Hall of Fame Awards. Applications must be submitted by June 23. Application guidelines are available under “hot topics” at www.edcsarasotacounty.com.

This year’s competition marks the 23rd anniversary for the awards program that recognizes excellence among Sarasota County businesses. Awards winners will be announced in the following categories at a luncheon on Sept. 17 at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota:
Entrepreneur - for businesses that are in their first five years of operation
Innovation - for businesses that have instituted an innovative product, service, process, technology, or partnership to improve their business or company’s performance
Green to Gold - for businesses that develop green products, services, processes, technologies, or ways of doing business
Export Excellence - for businesses that currently export their product or service internationally
John Cox Community Partner of the Year Award - recognizes an outstanding nonprofit that supports economic development or improves the area's quality of life and helps to make Sarasota County an attractive place to live and work

To be considered for the Hall of Fame Awards a nominee must be a business located in Sarasota County, Florida and pay an average wage of at least $35,665. Companies of all sizes are eligible to enter. Businesses should demonstrate corporate citizenship, community involvement and corporate responsibility through employee programs. Companies may apply for one award category, and may not apply for an award category if they have won that award in the previous two years.
The for-profit companies chosen to receive the awards will also be nominated for the Florida Governor’s Business Diversification Awards.
